F. Jones, of Kansas City, formerly district superintendent of the Methodist church here.  Witnesses in the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Byron Ash, of this city, who have been visiting in Kansas City for a few days.  Also, Mrs. Jones, wife of the officiating clergyman, was present. Mrs. and Mrs. Ash arrived home yesterday and brought the news of the wedding.  Also letters to Mr. Luke's niece, Mrs. S. C. Boggess, and other relatives, received about the same time told of the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Luke were undecided on Sunday whether they would come to Carthage for a few days before starting on an eastern trip but it is now thought that they have planned to start east without delay. Mr. Luke has been identified with the mining industry in this district from the early stages of its development and has been very successful.  The bride has long been a resident of Los Angeles and has been holding the important position of business manager for the Pacific coast of the advertising department of the Christian Science Monitor.  She and Mr. Luke met in Los Angeles a year ago last winter and have seen much of each other while Mr. Luke was spending two winters on the Pacific coast.  Rumors of the approaching wedding have been rife here for some time, but it was the expectation that the wedding would take place in Carthage. Mr. Ash, who has been closely associated with Mr. Luke in a business way for many years, was called to Kansas City last week, ostensibly in connection with a land deal there which he and Mr. Luke have been considering, but that was only a "side issue" when so important an event as a wedding was concerned, and the arrangements for the wedding were made as soon as Mr. And Mrs. Ash reached Kansas City, where the bride has been visiting for a time. After spending the summer on the Atlantic coast, Mr. and Mrs. Luke will return to Carthage.  While they make Carthage their home, it is probable that they will spend much of their time each year on the Pacific coast.
