      Mrs.   Prudence   Creech   Dead 

  Mr M T [Marion Taylor] Creech [oldest child] received word last evening of the
death of his aged mother in Galena. The remains will be brought to this city for
burial by Undertaker Steele. 

 She died at home of Mrs [Lina May] Dr Cooper at 7 o'clock last evening, aged 76
years. Short services will be held at the home of her [youngest child] daughter,
after which a car will be chartered and remains will be brought to this city and the
regular services will be held at the M E church south at 2:30 p m tomorrow,
conducted by Revs J L Sallens and W C Bewley. 

 The enterment will be in the Webb City Cemetery. Friends of the family are invited.

   ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: 

Prudence (Nichols) Creech was born (reportedly)1826 in North Carolina. She married
John Creech 1845 in Owens county, Indiana, living in Owens, Clay and Vigo counties
giving birth to eight known children before moving to Mattoon, Coles county,
Illinois for 1870 Federal census. They then appear to have lived in Adair county,
Missouri where John (reportedly) died in 1872/73. Prudence, a widow, is found on
1880 Federal census in Preston, Jasper county, Missouri, listed second below her son
Preston's in-laws, with four of her known children, four others had married in 1872,
1875, 1876 and 1879.
