For years her health had not been of the best and her constitution had been greatly weakened in caring for a brother, P T Creech, who died last Thursday, and a sister, Mrs William Edwards,who resides near powder mill. southwest of the city. Mrs Edwards now is seriously sick, her condition being such that she has not been informed of the death of Mrs Luke.     Besides the husband, Mrs Luke is survived by five sisters and one brother. They are; Mrs William Edwards, Mrs Alle Mangum, Mrs E Cooper, all of whom reside southwest of Carthage, near the powder mill, Mrs William Harris of Carthage; Mrs Louise Jenkins of Alba; Taylor Creech of Joplin.     Mrs Luke was born in Terre Haute, Ind, March 24, 1854, died and was 61 years old. She came to Jasper county many years ago. She married to Mr Luke in 1878. About 38 years ago, she and her husband removed to Carthage, and during her residence here, Mr Luke made many warm friends and her death will cast much sincere regret.     For many years Mrs Luke had been a devout member of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Carthage, taking an active part in all departments of church work. She united with this church when 9 years old. She was an unusually generous women doing a great deal for those in need in a sweet, kind way without any display. In fact it can truthfully be said of her that she neglected herself in order to make others comfortable and happy.     Funeral services for Mrs Luke will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the First Methodist Episcopal church, with Rev Dr W G Clinton pastor of that church in charge. The church choir will sing the hymns.     The following persons will serve as honorary pallbearers; M G McGregor, W F Maring, P E Hannum, E A Junkin, B A Ash, W H Phelps, J F Leggett, J A Wilson, T N Davey and Howard Gray. The active pallbearers will be; R T Stickney, J C Squires, W A Rhea, F C Hodson, G A Rose, W F Spencer, L S Durham and Ed H Irwin. Burial will be in Park cemetery.
