He had been confined to his bed only a week. The body was brought to Carthage yesterday afternoon. Funeral arrangements will not be made until absent relatives are heard from. The body will be buried in the Somerset cemetery at the Dunkard church near Avilla. Mr. McFadden was born and reared near Avilla. He was a son of the late Henry McFadden who was a well known farmer of that neighborhood. He spent several years farming near Avilla, after which he moved to Carthage. He formerly conducted a livery stable on East Second street and for a time conducted the Koontz dairy northeast of the city. About 10 years ago Mr. McFadden sold his interests here and moved with his family to Colorado, where he resided about two years. Returning to Carthage Mr. McFadden engaged in the butcher and grocery business. He also was a live stock buyer. He formerly was in partnership with C. C. Miller in the meat market and grocery now conducted by Mr. Miller on East Fourth street. The wife, three daughters and two sons survive. The sons are Ray and Clyde. Ray residing in Coffeyville, Kansas and Clyde in the west. One of the daughters, who formerly was Miss Lola McFadden, is married and resides in Billings, Mont. Miss Mary McFadden, another daughter, also resided in the west. The youngest daughter, Miss Henrietta McFadden makes her home here with her mother. Mrs. McFadden resided on East Third street. Mrs. C. T. Bastin, of Carthage, is a sister of the deceased. His mother, Lee and George McFadden, brothers, and Mrs. J. H. Guthrey, a sister, reside in the Avilla neighborhood. FUNERAL AT KNELL CHAPEL Services for Sam McFadden Will Be held Tomorrow Morning Funeral services for Sam McFadden, who died Sunday, will be conducted at the Knell chapel, Rev. D. W. Moore, pastor of the Christian church will conduct the rites. The body will be taken to the Somerset cemetery at the Dunkard church, near Avilla for burial. IS BURIED NEAR AVILLA Funeral of Sam McFadden Held at Knell Chapel Today Funeral services for Sam McFadden, who died Sunday, were conducted this morning at the Knell chapel, Rev. D. W. Moore, pastor of the Christian church, being in charge. Mrs. B. F. Hackney sang the funeral hymns. The pallbearers were J. R. Pritchard, Ira Moran, Walter Miller, Cal Stuckey, R. N. Kirby and R. G. Stagg. The body was taken to the Somerset cemetery at the Dunkard church near Avilla for burial. Elder George Barnhart conducted a short service at the grave.
