Ramsey Obituary, Joplin News Herald, Joplin, MO Thur, Aug 16, 1923 "Front Page - RAMSEY FUNERAL MAY BE AUG 18-Other Arrangements of Dead Joplin Banker are incomplete" The Funeral of H.M. Ramsey, cashier of the Joplin State Bank who died after a three weeks illness at 9:40 o'clock at his residence 2030 Sergeant Avenue, probably will be held Saturday afternoon at the Byers Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, it was stated this morning by Mrs. Ramsey. Other arrangements have not been completed. Mr. Ramsey was widely known here. He had served as a member of the board of education and taken an active part in the establishment of the Joplin State Bank, also the Ramsey-Cox Mercantile Company, of which he was president. During his term of the school board, the present high school building was erected. He was a member of Joplin Elks lodge, No. 501. "CAME HERE IN 1908" Mr. Ramsey was born in Crawford County, Missouri, and later moved to Steelville, from which place he came to Joplin in 1908. A daughter, Miss Mae Ramsey, for the last two years has been active with high school musical organizations, being a talented pianist and winner of prizes in the annual high school musical contests held at Springfield and Pittsburg. Others surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah E. Ramsey; six sons, James, Robert, Charles, Rodney, Monroe, and John Ramsey; another daughter, Margaret Ramsey and a sister, Mrs. Helen Rost, of Cuba, MO. Ramsey's 2d wife was Sarah E.
