K. Wood, Whose Death Occurred Yesterday, Was Prominent Citzen       Thomas K Wood, who died died xxxx xxxx at xxxxx yesreday afternoon at home of his sister, Mrs S E Boggess on East Third street xxxx xxxxx in xxx xxxxxxx's Pxxx, was for many years a prominent resident of Carthage. He was a highly respected citzen and had many friends. He had been in poor health for a number of years and was subject to attacks of heart trouble.       Mr Wood was a well known stock raiser and contractor in Jasper county. He came to the county in 1869 and settled on a farm near Avilla. It was on this farm that he gained his reputation as a stock eaiser.       Thomas K Wood was born in Clark county, Va, about twelve miles from Winchester, June 2, 1842. When he was three years old his parents moved to Jeffeson county, Va. Here he grew to manhood and when the civil war broke out he enlisted in the confederate army as a member of a West Virginia regiment. Mr Wood's parent's died when he was a youth.     In 1868 he came to Missouri, settling in Lafayette county. In 1869 he was married to Miss Barbara F Miller in Lafayette county. The same year they came to Jasper county. In 1886 Mr and Mrs Wood moved to Carthage to make their home. A short time afterward Mr Wood built the barn on Howard street now occupied by Carl Hibbs, and for a number of years was engaged in the livery business in Carhage. He later took up railroad contracting and one of the largest jobs which he obtained was with Frisco near Hugo, Okla.       Mr Wood was a member of the I O O F lodge.       Mrs Wood died October 23, 1914. Six children survive. They are: Mrs Ed H Irwin, of Carthage; Bert E Wood of Newkirk, Okla:, Mabel E Wood, Harry C Wood, and Walter W Wood, all of Kansas City. Three brothers and two sisters survive. They are: John H Wood, of Bellaire, Ohio; Robert A Wood of Texas: George B Wood of Carthage: Mrs S E Boggess of Carthage and Mrs William H Jarvis of Claremore, Okla.       The son who lives in Oklahoma is visiting in Kansas City and he and his three brothers and sister are expected to arrive in Carthage on the 4 o'clock Missouri Pacific train this afternoon.       Mr Wood for several years has been making his home in Kansas City and came to Carthage Wednsday night to visit his daugher, Mrs Ed H Irwin.       Funeral service plans are not complete, but probably will be held Sunday afternoon with I O O F lodge in charge. Robert A Wood who lives in Texas has been visiting brother in Bellaire, Ohio and will come for the funeral.
