Biographical Sketch of J. A. Bobbitt, Johnson County, Missouri Grover Township >From "The History of Johnson County, Missouri," Kansas City Historical Co. 1881 J.A. BOBBITT, postmaster at Sigel, was born October 9, 1831, in Kentucky, and when about twelve years of age his parents emigrated to Macon county, Missouri, where they remained for a short time; then moved to Howard county, remaining there but a short time; then came to Johnson. The subject of this sketch has lived in this county ever since, except one year that he lived in Platte county. He was married, March 19, 1854, to Miss Nancy Ferguson. Mr. B. is a man of continued industry, and now, as a reward he owns a fine farm of 240 acres, all under cultivation, and a fine residence in Sigel. He was appointed postmaster in 1879, and has since held the office with credit to himself and satisfaction to the people.
