R. THARRINGTON,

farmer, P.O. Knobnoster.  The subject of this sketch is a native of
North Carolina, and was born, August 9, 1829.  In the year 1850, he
immigrated to Wickley county, Tennessee, and in 1853 he came to Johnson
county, Missouri. He was married in 1856, to Miss Harriet Ann Porter, a
native of Tennessee, and from that union they have six children living:
William J., Robert, Mary E., James M., Remah and John W.  His success in
life may be inferred from the fact that he began business for himself
with very limited capital, but through his industry he now owns a fine
farm of 163 acres of fine land.
