Biographical Sketch of William F. Lambeth, Laclede County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** William F. Lambeth is a native of Laclede county, Mo., born in 1846, and is a son of Josiah B. and Sarah A. (Frair) Lambeth, and grandson of Joseph and Lavinia (Fleck) Lambeth, who were prominent residents of the Carolinas. Josiah B. is the youngest of their six children, and was born in Guilford county, N.C., in 1824, and attained his majority in his native state. In 1842 he immigrated to Missouri, locating on the Glaize, and resided in Laclede county until 1861, when he took refuge in Texas, and enlisted in the Confederate army. He was taken prisoner at Vicksburg, but was afterward exchanged, and was given a position in the commissary department. After peace was declared he resided one year in Franklin county, and then took up his abode in St. James, Phelps county, where he sent his children to school, and in the fall of 1867 went to Lawrence county, and purchased land on the head waters of Spring River. After residing here four years, he next loca- ted in Verona, where he died in 1875, and where his widow is still living. He was a member of the A. F. & A. M., and a Democrat in poli- tics. His wife was born in North Carolina in 1819, and after becoming a woman came to Dade county, Mo., with her parents in the fall of 1842 and was married in February of the following year. The following are their children: Joseph, William, Madison, Susan (Latta), Nina (Grammer), Orlena (Ham), and Irving, who resides with his mother. Mrs. Lambeth is now a member of the Christian church, but earlier in life was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. William F. Lambeth has always resided in Laclede county, with the exception of one year (1866) when he resided in Franklin county, where he was engaged in farming. In February, 1867, he espoused Miss Malinda Bohannon, who was born in Roane county, Tenn., in 1849, but came to Missouri with her parents when a child, where she grew to womanhood. She was a daughter of John Bohannon and Elizabeth Esther, and became the mother of seven children: John, James, Joseph, William, Andrew, Roenia (who is deceased), and Dee, the youngest.
