Biographical Sketch of William M. Mayfield, Laclede County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** William M. Mayfield, farmer and stock raiser, was born in Laclede county, Mo., and is the son of William R. and Sarah E. (Davis) May- field. The grandparents on both sides came to Laclede county at quite an early date, and settled in what is now Mayfield township. W. M. Mayfield grew to manhood in that township, and received a good colleg- iate education. After finishing his education he engaged in farming, and has followed this occupation ever since. He deals quite exten- sively in stock, and in this pursuit he has been quite successful. He was married, January 5, 1885, to Miss Lou, daughter of John Esther, of Laclede county, and by whom he had one child, Orin.
