Biographical Sketch of Hillory M. Turner, Laclede County, Missouri >From "History of Laclede, Camden, Dallas, Webster, Wright, Texas, Pulaski, Phelps and Dent Counties, Missouri" The Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1889. ********************************************************************** Hillory M. Turner, farmer, of Auglaize Township, was born in Caswell county, N. C., in 1821, and is a son of Thomas and Celia (Wear) Turner, whose sketch appears in another portion of this work. Hillory M. attained his majority in North Carolina, and was educated in the common schools of Caswell county. In 1858 he began tilling the farm on which he now lives, but during the late Civil War made his home in Texas, re- siding in that State until 1866, when he returned to the home place. On the 17th of September, 1857, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary M. Hawkins, who was born in Pulaski county, Mo., and by her became the father of the following family of children: William, Alice, John, May, Edward, Blanche, Virgil and Zoe. Those deceased are Robert and an infant not named. Mr. Turner is a Democrat in politics, and has always taken a deep interest in all matters pertaining to the public weal. He is a member of the A. F. & A.
