The company, which is made up of the pick of the young men of Lebanon and Conway, met in the respective towns last Friday and elected its commissioned officers as follows: Captain--C. R. Vernon, Lebanon First lieutenant--Dave Schmalhorst, Conway Second lieutenant--D. M. Martin, Lebanon. The muster roll of the company has been sent to Adjutant-General Bell, and the boys are confident of being called out as soon as the official call for 75,000 volunteers is made. Messrs. Vernon and M artin are well known in Lebanon as the right kind of men for their respective positions. Mr. Schmalhorst is one of Conway’s leading young business men, a recent graduate of our best military colleges, and well versed in the latest tactics and military science. Altogether, the company is one of which both towns may well be proud, and if commissioned will render a good account of itself in the duties of a soldier’s life. Newport Lebanon Volunteers. --------------A number of Lebanonites took advantage of the excursion to St. Louis Saturday morning and went down to see the soldier boys at Jefferson Barracks, among whom are five former Lebanon boys, Fred Manchester, Rob Jones, Guy Williamson, Charlie Johnson and Arch Ellis, all members of the Second regiment. Fred Manchester is a sergeant in Company A and Rob Jones is a corporal in Company G. Solon Manchester took along a camera, and, while at the camp, secured a picture of the Lebanon squad and some of the visitors. Some of the visitors also saw George Hamel, formerly of Labanon, who is a member of the Fifth regiment. The Second regiment was to leave Sunday night, but the departure was postponed. It is thought it will go to Chickamauga this week.
