Biographical Sketch of Mrs. (Rebecca) Lou Abney, Lafayette County, MO >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** Mrs. Lou Abney, P. O. Higginsville, Mo. Daughter of George Ennis, who moved from Kentucky to this state at an early day, and settled in this county near the present site of Higginsville. In 1834 he was married to Miss Rebecca Cole, a native of Tennessee. In 1855 Miss Ennis was united in marriage to B. F. Coffey, and moved to Saline county where Mr. Coffey had a large landed interest. They remained in Saline some years and returned to this county. In the war Mr. Coffey was engaged in trading in stock and did not join either army. In December, 1878, while residing in Marshall Mr. Coffey was bitten by a rat, from which he died after a short illness. In 1881 his widow, Mrs. Coffey, was married to Mr. L. W. Abney, and in April they moved to Higginsville in this county, where they now live.
