Biographical Sketch of Eli Adams, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** Mr. Adams, son of Jacob and Nancy Adams, is a native of Claiborn county, Tenn.; born June 12, 1817. Was reared and educated there. In 1836 he moved, with his parents, to Missouri and settled in Lafayette county, where he has since resided, engaged in farming. October 28, 1841, he married Miss Jane Powell, of Lafayette county, Mo. Thirteen children were born to them, ten now living. In 1840 he was elected constable of Sniabar township. Served two years.
