Biographical Sketch of R. C. Booton, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** R. C. Booton, insurance agent and senior member of the firm of Booton & Graves, proprietors of Lafayette county Star Mills. Mr. Booton was born October 1, 1835, in Culpepper county, Virginia, the son of William and Jane (Wood) Booton, who were also natives of Virginia. Mr. Booton spent his early life with his parents upon the farm. Received his education at the Missouri State University, where he graduated in the class of 1857. He came to Lafayette county in 1843, with his widowed mother, who died in 1854. After that time, he was engaged in farming till 1872. He then engaged in merchandising, in Waverly, for two years, when he bought out the Starr Mills. November, 1865, he was married to Miss Sallie Neale daughter of William Neale, formerly of Parkersburg, West Virginia.
