Biographical Sketch of Charles N. Beale, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** Charles N. Beale, P. O. Odessa, Mo. Was born in Pocahontas county, now West Virginia, in 1832. In 1843 he came with his parents to this county, where he has since resided, engaged in farming. He owns a fine body of land; and before the war, was one of the largest hemp growers in the county. In 1870 he was married to Miss Jennie Lee, of this county, and by that union has one child living, Arthur Lee. He joined the Southern army, and served two months, when he had to abandon the service on account of ill health.
