Biographical Sketch of S. L. Cheatham, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** S. L. Cheatham, P. O. Bates City, Mo.; was born in Charlotte county, Virginia, and came to Benton county, in this state in 1842. From there he moved to Pettis county, and from thence to this county in 1866. In 1851 he married Miss Mary S. Parsons, by whom he has ten children living: Sarah, Emma, Susan, Ada, Alice, Nancy, Naomi, Joseph, James and William. Sarah is now Mrs. Bates, Emma is now Mrs. Campbell. Mr. Cheatham has devoted his whole attention to farming, to which he was raised. He has succeeded well, and has now a first class farm.
