Biographical Sketch of James O. Hogan, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** James O. Hogan, farmer; is the oldest son of Alexander C. Hogan, who was born March 1, 1783, near Richmond, Virginia. The subject of this sketch came to this state with his father in 1839, and located where he now lives, upon land they entered soon after they came to the state. The father of James O. Hogan is still living at the ripe age of ninety-eight years, and is as active as many a younger person, retaining his mental faculties and dividing his time visiting among his children. James was married April 27, 1853, to Miss Sarah A. Warren. By this marriage they have two living children: Eddie and Jerry. Mrs. Hogan died March 18, 1857. September 1, 1857, was again married to Miss Euphemia M. Slusher. By this marriage he has four living children: Joanna, Eulalie M., James Henry and Nora Belle. In 1861 he enlisted in Gen. Joe Shelby's command, and remained with him until he (Shelby) went south, then James joined Capt.
