Jackson, Middleton township, was born in Rappahannock county, Va., January 16, 1831, where he spent his early life up to 1857; he moved to Missouri in the fall of 1857, and settled on the farm where he now resides. At the beginning of the war he enlisted in Company C, First Missouri calvary, under Gen. Shelby, and served until the close of the war, and took part in all the engagements the regiment was in, and was at the surrender at Shreveport. He was married April 15, 1853 to Miss Allie Griffin, a native of Virginia. By this marriage they have eight children: Daniel W., Frank, Stonewall, Richard, Eugenia, Joseph, Robert and Claud.
