Biographical Sketch of William F. McKinney, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ******************************************************************** William F. McKinney, retired druggist, Odessa. Was born in Wayne county, Kentucky, September 19, 1833. In the spring of 1849 he came with his parents to Andrew county, of this state, where he remained until October, 1857, when he went to Bolivar, Polk county, and engaged in the drug business. In June, 1861, he enlisted in the 19th Louisiana Infantry, of which he was shortly afterward appointed druggist, and in which capacity he served until the close of the war. In the fall of 1866, he settled in Clay county, where he engaged in the drug business and in teaching. In October, 1878, he moved to Odessa, resumed the sale of drugs and in the following year sold out his entire stock and retired from business. On the 13th of December, 1868, he was united in marriage to Miss S. E. Rupe, by whom he has two children: Mary A. and Phoebe. Mr. McKinney is a member in good standing of the A. F. & A. M., and also in active and con- sistent member of the Christian Church.
