Biographical Sketch of David R. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** David R. Mitchell, P. O. Bates City, Missouri; was born and raised in Mason county, Kentucky. In 1858, he came to Missouri, and settled in this county. In 1859 he went west, and remained until 1865, then re- turned, and has resided in this county ever since. He engaged in farm- ing until 1879, when he moved to Bates City, and engaged in hotel keep- ing, where he now is. In 1861, while in Colorado, he enlisted in Capt. Keith's Company, C. S. A., was taken prisoner in 1862, and held to the end of the war.
