Biographical Sketch of Dr. J. C. Pasley, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** Dr. J. C. Pasley, postoffice, Alma, Mo. Was born in Morgan county, Illinois. His father, C. C. Pasley, was from Tennessee, and his mother, Nancy E. (Crawford), was from Kentucky. His mother died while he was an infant. His father was wounded at the battle of Bellmont, killed by a train of cars at Springfield, Illinois, leaving him an orphan at 12 years of age. He found a home with J. B. Thompson, of Morgan county, Illinois, with whom he lived until he entered the State Normal University, at Bloomington, Ill. Leaving college, he taught school for five years, and studied medicine as he could find the time, with Dr. J. A. Rea. In 1876, he entered the college of physicians and surgeons, at Keokuk, Iowa, from which he graduated in 1878. He then located at Alsey, Ill., and prac- ticed two years.
