Biographical Sketch of James S. Price, postoffice, Lexington, Missouri, son of John and Jane Price, who moved from Warrensburg, Johnson county, Mo., to St. Louis county, in 1861; then to St. Charles county, Illinois; then back to Warrensburg, Mo., in 1866, and in 1872, to this county, living near Dover for several years, and then settled in the suburbs of Lexington, Missouri. James S. Price was born in Warrensburg, Mo., May 31, 1852. He entered the Jerseyville Illinois College at 17 years of age, remain- ing three years, and at the age of 20, studied medicine one year at Jerseyville; then read law four years in Warrensburg, Mo., feeling that he had not necessary nerve for dissections. While reading law, he felt that he was called to preach the gospel. In 1874 he concluded to preach and in December, 1878, preached his first sermon, and was ordained the third Sunday in August, 1879. He was called to Long Branch church, where he has been preaching three years, and has built up a good congre- gation.
