Biographical Sketch of James P. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** James P. Proctor, P. O. Odessa. Son of Thomas and Polly Proctor. Was born in Kentucky, and came with his parents to this state in 1838. In 1867 he married Mrs. Rachel Helm, widow of James Helm and daughter of Charles Glover. In 1861 he enlisted under Gen. Shelby in the confederate army, and fought in several battles.
