The subject of the following is a native of this state and county, and was born on the 8th of October, 1849. Was educated in the common schools of this county, and has always followed the independent life of a farmer. His father was a native of Pennsylvania, and came to Missouri in 1838, settling in this county, where he died, his wife and five children surviving him.
