Biographical Sketch of J. W. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** J. W. Tucker, druggist, is a native of Maryland, the son of Walter and Nancy Tucker, natives of eastern Maryland. J. W. was born May 8, 1816; educated at Brookville, Indiana; received his medical education in the Cincinnati medical college, of Ohio. After leaving college he practiced medicine in Livingston county, Mo., until the Mexican War broke out when he and Captain Slack raised a company of men, and the doctor was made First Lieutenant of the Company, L, second regiment Missouri volunteers commanded by Gen. Sterling Price; was in the battle of Canada, and was discharged at Ft.
