His early life was passed on a farm. In 1833, he was united in marriage to Miss Christina Toakley, also a native of North Carolina. Ten children were born to them, six of whom are now living, four sons and two daughters, viz: Jesse R., F. W. M., John A., H.C., Tiriffa C. and Mary C. In 1845 he came to Lafayette county, Missouri, and purchased the farm upon which he now resides, consisting of 166 acres of excellent land, for which he paid five dollars per acre. Mr. Taggart is one of the early settlers of the county and has been closely identified with its interests since locating here. Is energetic and enterprising, and by watchfulness and ecomony has secured for himself and family a pleasant and comfortable home. Postoffice, Concordia.
