Odessa, Mo.; was born in the year 1828, in Lafayette county, and is the son of J. S. Whitsett, who came to this state from Kentucky at a very early day. In 1864 he married Miss Mary C. Powell, of Jackson county, Mo., and has one child, James A. Whitsett. Mr. Whitsett is a large and successful farmer, which voca- tion he has pursued all his life.
