Biographical Sketch of James Younger, Lafayette County, Missouri >From "History of Lafayette County, Mo., carefully written and compiled from the most authentic official and private sources" St. Louis, Mo. Historical Company, 1881. ********************************************************************** James Younger, deceased, was born in Logan county, Ky., October 6, 1833. His father, William C. Younger, was also a native of Kentucky. He lived in his native county until 10 years old, when he went to Simpson county, Ky., and lived with John Ennis until he was 18, his parents both dying while he was very young. He then went to Warren county, Ky., where he married, December 29, 1853, Miss Louisa A. Phelps, of Warren county, Ky. He lived in Warren county about four years, and then, in 1857, came to this county and settled at Waverly for some years. He then purchased a farm and went to farming in Middleton township. He did not join either army in the war, and had accumulated quite a handsome property at the time of his death, which took place July 6, 1881. He left a widow and the following children, living: Annie Belle, now Mrs. Edward Downs; Betty J., now Mrs. John Thornton; Charles H., Josephine, Georgia, James C. and Sallie Frances. Mr. Younger was a member of the Baptist church, as is also his widow.
