He superintended Sunday school that morning, had company with him for dinner and entertained them until after four o'clock when they, he and his brother Gordon were sitting on the porch and he fell from his chair, his brother caught him and laid him down and he died without speaking a word. Bro. Tweedie was born in Frankford, Ky., May 8, 1846, and moved to Layfette County Missouri when small and lived in the area until 1874 . Then he moved to Baker City, Oregon, professed Christ in that year and joined the Baptist Church of Baker Oregon and came back to Missouri in 1888 and united with Union Baptist Church and was a member there three years; from there he moved to Low Gap community and united with the Low Gap Church of which he was a member until his death. He was a true, faithful working Christian member of the church of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was always ready to undertake anything his brethren put on him, in the way of church work for Jesus' sake. The church and whole community mourn their great loss. I have heard so many say, "There could have no one been taken who will be missed more than he." He was the pastor's friend and helped. The church, pastor, wife and two children, brothers and sisters and community, mourn our loss; "but not as others who have no hope." The pastor being at the North Liberty Association and could not be had, Bro. L. T. Berger preached the funeral sermon: Text 2 Timothy 4:6-8. There were many to hear and pay their tribute of respect to that good man. God Bless the wife and children. J.W. Nebb, pastor. Tombstone Inscription [transcribed 1997] "In thy Father's House are many Mansions Take well my wife and children All from you a Father Christ doth call. The hope to meet when life is past Shall cheer the sorrowing heart at last" Died August 25, 1895, 49 Y & 3 M & 17 D. William Tweedie & his wife, Roseanne Elizabeth Long Tweedie are buried at Low Gap Cemetery, Norbourne, Mo. He was a farmer, east of Braymer on land that is today part of Tweedie Farms, Inc. still owed and run by the Tweedie family.
