1853 Will of John Ray - Lincoln County, Missouri 1853 Will of John RAY                            Be it known that I John RAY of Auburn Lincoln Co, Missouri do make and publish this my last will and testament.                               First, I desire the payment of all my just debts, including my final expense.                                                               Second, I will and devise to my dear wife Francis(FLOYD)RAY, all of my estate both real and personal, during her natural life, except parts trust, as I shall herein other dispose of                              Third, I will and devise to my said wife, my slave Susan inabsolute right; and herby authorise her to hold and dispose of said slave and her future increase in such manner as she may deem best or desire.         Fourth, I will and devise to my son Thomas RAY, the forty acres of land on which he lives, viz the NW quarter of section no. 35, in township 51, range no one west valued to him at the sum of one hundred dollars.     Fifth I will and devise to my son Jefferson RAY in consideration of his care of and attention to me and his mother during our joint lives: and the care and attention I desire and believe he will bestow on his own mother after my death, the following real and personal estate of the East 1/2 of the S.E. quarter of Section no 11 and the W 1/2 of the S.W. quarter of Section 12 all in township no 50 Range no one west: and my slaves Hannible and Columbus: to have and to hold said real and personal Estate from and after the death of my said wife, to him the one Jefferson RAY and his heirs forever.                                   Sixth, After the death of my said wife, my will and desire is that the residue of my estate shall be equally divided between my other four sons viz. William RAY, Robert RAY, Thomas RAY and John RAY: in which division, the said Thomas RAY shall be charged with one hundred dollars; the value of the land devised to him.                                  Seventh, In the event however of the death of my said son John RAY, who is now in California, before his return to his family, I will and devise to his daughter Olivan RAY, the sum of fifty dollars, and desire that she share which said John would have recieved had he lived, shall be equally divided between said William, Robert and Thomas.               Eight, I hereby constitute and appoint my friend George W.
