Brown buwbrown@comcast.net September 1, 2008, 10:03 am Application For Invalid/Widow's Pension Mar. 8, 1879: Daniel E. Reynolds, aged 43, of Linn County, Missouri, applied for invalid pension. Enlisted in August 1862 in Co. F, 141 Regt. of New York Volunteer Infantry commanded by Capt. A.J. Russell and was honorably discharged at Ward J., Emery Hospital, Washington in May 1863. In the line of duty at Maryland Station in the State of Maryland on or about Dec. 25, 1862, he contracted disease of the lungs by reason of exposure to cold and bad weather. He was treated at Emery Hospital from about Apr. 1 to time of discharge in May 1863. Since leaving the service he has resided in the Counties of Steuben, N.Y. and Linn, Missouri. A farmer before and after service; now partially disabled. Post Office: Bucklin. Signed by mark. Certificate of disability for discharge: Daniel E. Reynolds enl. Hornellsville, N.Y. Aug. 22, 1862 for 3 years. He was born in Massachusetts, was 27 years of age; six feet high, light complexion, blue eyes, brown hair; farmer. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty 60 days. Phthisis pulmonalis; had haemoptysis previous to enlistment. Discharged from service at Emory Hospital, Washington, D.C. May 25, 1863. The soldier is to be addressed at Hornellsville, Steuben Co., N.Y. Jan. 24, 1884: Affidavit signed by Safford M. Thacher and Scott Thacher of Hornellsville, N.Y. Previous to his entering into service Daniel E. Reynolds worked on a farm in Hornellsville and he was at that time a sound healthy man, free from disease and especially free from lung disease. He was able to perform the full and continuous labor of a sound, healthy man. Mar. 30, 1893: Phydelia Reynolds, aged 55, application for widow's pension. Daniel E. Reynolds died Jan. 2, 1893. She was married to Reyolds in Howard, Steuben Co., N.Y. Dec. 13, 1856, her maiden name being Phydelia Phillips. She was born in Hague, Warren Co., N.Y. Jan. 9, 1837. Neither of them had been previously married. She has remained his widow since his death and lists all his legitimate children yet surviving who were under 16 years of age: Florence Ernestine - b. Aug. 26, 1879 Bertha Aurilla - b. Jan. 10, 1882 She has not abandoned the support of any of his children. Her husband was a pensioner at time of his death, #382,447. Her post office is Bucklin, Linn Co., Mo. Mar. 9, 1893: Deposition of D.V. Howard, M.D., a practicing physician in Linn and Macon Counties for twenty-seven years. Has known Daniel E. Reynolds and family since about 1883; he was suffering from disease of the lungs and heart failure the first time he consulted me. Mar. 30, 1893: Deposition of Henry Shook of Linn County, a practicing physician of 19 years standing; have known Daniel E. Reynolds and family since spring of 1869. Have prescribed fot him at various times until a short time before his death, etc. Mar. 25, 1893: Deposition of A.J. Davis, physician of Linn Co.; same Copy of marriage certificate: Dec. 13, 1856 married Mr. Edgar Reynolds of Howard, N.Y. and Miss Fidelia Phllips of Howard, N.Y.; at her father's; Wm. R. Downs, Pastor of Presbyterian Church July 19, 1926: Response to questionnaire, Marceline, Mo. Phydelia Phillips was born in Hague, Warren Co., N.Y. Jan. 9, 1837, was married to Daniel E. Reynolds Dec. 13, 1856. Came to Mo. in the spring of 1869. I will be 90 my next birthday, and very feeble. Daniel E. Reynolds died over 33 years ago, and my pension is all I have.
