Jones was born Mary 17, 1908, near Ethel, son of Charles Edward and Mary Susan (Johnson) Jones. He was a coal miner and maintenance of way laborer for the Santa Fe Railroad before his retirement. He was a long-time resident of Bucklin. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Green Hills Post No. 57 American Legion, Bucklin. Survivors include two brothers, John R. Jones, Phoenix, Ariz., and Hubert Cecil "Blackie" Jones, New Boston; four sisters, Marie Trickey, Des Moines, Iowa, Odema R. Lasswell, Gravios Mills, Bernice Price, Olathe, Kan., and Myrtle Legget, Shawnee, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parent; and one sister, Lorene Hull. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Louis V. Scudiero and Sons Funeral Home, Bucklin, with Rev. James E. Webb officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by Green Hills Post No. 57 American Legion. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Bucklin. Visitation will begin after 12 p.m. today, Dec. 8, 1997, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening.
