Miscellaneous Obituaries of Linn County, Missouri Jesse Franklin Still 15 September 1869-28 August 1933 Jesse Still, 63, died in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Baer. Funeral services were held in the home of a son, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Still with the Rev. Alfred Munyon conducting. Burial was in the Stein cemetery east of town. He was born Sept. 16, 1869 in Linn County five miles southeast of Marceline, On Sept. 17,1891 he married Miss Georgia Ann, Slaughter. They were parents of eight children, seven of whom survive. Survivors include: his widow, Willie Still, Fred Still. Alva Still, Mrs., Beulah Chrisman, Mrs. Eulah Bell Blew, Mrs. Mary Baer, all of Marceline and a son, Charles Oscar Still, Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters Mrs. Oscar D. Wright, New Cambria and Mrs Ella Franklin, Kidder; two brothers, Andy Still, Fulton; and Marvin Still, California; and twenty grandchildren. He was a farmer in the Marceline area and owned and operated a saw mill and threshing machine for more than 45 years. He was the correspondent from his High Hill and Peden Chapel community for the Marceline newspapers for over 30 years. Frederick Alexander Still Services Conducted. 26 August 1894-6 June 1970 Services for Fred A. Still who passed away June 6th, 1970, at St. Francis Hospital, were held Monday, June 8th at the McLaughlin Chapel with the Rev. Emery Adams officiating. Burial was at the Peden Chapel Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Katheryn of the home; four sons, Roy and Raymond of Marceline, Ray of Salisbury, and Robert of Macon; eight daughters, Floy Stanfield of Moberly, Mrs. Donald (Neva) Allen, Mrs. Marion (Dorothy) Smith and Mrs. Bud (Lola) Skinner of Marceline. Mrs. Don (Roberta) Ross and Mrs. Ira (Shirley) Hornsby of Excelsior Springs, Mrs. Archie (Judy) West of Bucklin and Mrs. Virgil (Margaret) Stanfield of Keytesville; one brother Alvah Still of Bucklin and three sisters, Beulah Christman , Marceline, Mary Baer, Brookfield, Eulah Blew, Chillicothe, Illinois. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Still was the son of Jesse and Georgia (Slaughter) Still and was born August 26, 1894 near Marceline. He spent his entire life in the Marceline community, except for time spent in the Army during the first world war, when he served in Company D-351, 88 Division. Pallbearers were Richard Shannon, Laverne Stanfield, Larry Stanfield, C.L. Lucas, Terry Fisher and Howard Sappington. Katheryn (Passig) Still 13 November 1905-23 April 1994 Katheryn Grace Still, 88, Marceline died Saturday morning, April 23, 1994, at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield. She was born Nov. 13, 1905, near Wein in Chariton County, daughter of Herman and Elizabeth Ann (Vantine) Passig. She and Frederick Alexander Still were married Nov. 18, 1923. He died June 6, 1970. Mrs. Still was a homemaker, and also worked as a nurse' aide. She was a lifelong Marceline area resident. She was reportedly an avid quiliter. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy F. and Velma Still, Marceline; Robert L. and Pat Still, Green City, and Raymond D. and Bonnie Still, Keytesville; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Margaret E. and Virgil Stanfield, Keytesville, Shirley M. and Ira Hornsby, Excelsior Springs, Roberta A. and Don Ross, Clifton Hill, Neva A. and Don Allen, Brookfield, Lola Skinner, Marceline, and Judy K. and Archie West, Marceline; and a brother, Herman Passig, Marceline and two sisters, Rosie Niggemeyer, Ft. Madison, Iowa and Minnie Bell Hardy, Boise, Idaho; 162 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Still was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Kenneth Still an infant and Ray Edward Still, in July 1993, three daughters, Rosemary Still an infant, Dorothy Smith in December 1984 and Floy Stanfield in October 1993; three grandsons, Charles Still in 1981, Laverne Stanfield in 1989 and Darold Ross in 1961 and a great-grandson, Jordan B. Fiala, who died this April 8; a brother, Augusta (Guss) Passig and four sisters, Wilhelmina Payne, Annie Nanneman, Elizabeth Edie and Mary White. Services were held a 2 p.m. today, Monday April 25, 1994, at the Bentley-Delaney Funeral Home, Marceline with the Rev. Allen Perkins officiating. Burial was in Peden Chapel Cemetery, southeast of Marceline. Dorothy Bell (Still) Smith Dorothy Bell Smith of Marceline, Mo. died Dec. 22 1984 at Saint-Francis Hospital in Marceline at the age of 57. She was born Nov. 7, 1927 in Macon county, Mo. near New Cambria, the daughter of Fred A. and Katherine (Passig) Still. A lifelong resident of Linn and Macon counties, she had worked as a nurses aide at Chastains of Marceline. On July 15, 1953, she married Marion Smith in Keytesville, Mo. She is survived by her husband; her mother Katherine Still of Marceline and three sons, Ronald Dean Pope and William G. Smith of Marceline, and Willard Darrel Smith of Camp Darby, Italy. She also leaves four brothers, Roy Still of Marceline, Ray Still of Salisbury, Mo., Robert Still of Green City, Mo. and Raymond Still of Dalton, Mo. Others surviving include seven sisters, Floy Stanfield of Moberly, Mo., Margaret Stanfield of Keytesville, Shirley Hornsby of Excelsior Springs, Roberta Ross of Marceline, Neva Allen of Brookfield, Mo., Lola Skinner and Judy West of Marceline and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother Charles Kenneth Still, and a sister Rosemary Still. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Everett Bradshaw and were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the McLaughlin-Scudiero Funeral Home in Marceline, burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. .Pallbearers were Richard Shannon, Larry Stanfield, Terry Fisher, Eugene Hornsby, Phillip Skinner and Delmar Ross.
