Obituary for Celestia Graves - Livingston County, Missouri OBITUARY, Dawn, MO, 30 Oct 1943: LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. GRAVES, Services Conducted Friday Afternoon at the Dawn Federated Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Celestia Graves were held Friday afternoon at the Federated Church in Dawn, conducted by the Rev. A.H. Sargent. Interment was made in the Collar cemetery. A mixed choir sang "Have Thine Own Way", In the Garden" and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me". Pallbearers were Parl Romick, Harry Vanstane, Ray Wooden, B.W. Purcell, A.J. Reidel and A.T. Cunningham. Mrs. Graves' death occurred in a hospital at Columbia Wednesday morning. She was born the daughter of James and Eliza Hinton in the State of Michigan April, 17, 1860. The family moved to North Missouri, where she met and married William Graves in 1879. In 1901 they moved from Des Moines to a farm one mile south of Dawn which was her home until after the death of Mr. Graves, March 16, 1912. Four years later she moved to Dawn, where she had since resided. Early in life Mrs. Graves united with the United Brethren Church, transferring her membership to the Methodist Church in Dawn. For many years she was active in church work. A daughter, Margaret, passed away in 1886 at the age of 6 years, leaving as her immediate survivor an only daughter, Mrs. Byrdie Lewis of the home. She is also survived by two brothers, William and James Hinton of Des Moines, Iowa.
