He was born in Madison county Indiana, being the youngest of eight** children born to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Drury Moberly. He remove with the family to Illinois in an early day, then to Livingston county,Mo. In early life he took up the work up of a photographer, which he followed through life at different places, and at the time of his death he and Pap Cramer of St Louis were the two oldest photographers west of the Mississippi river. During the civil war he allied himself with the Union, and was one of the Home Guards of Missouri and during services as such, he was wounded, but never applied for a pension. He said "Mamma, it seems that this is the beginning of the end and should it be so, you will find on the back of the tablet a list of names I have prepared". After the end of the tablet was found with the list as he said and while there were some changes, his wishes were carried out as best as it was possible. The funeral services were held from the Christian Church Sunday afternoon at three o'clock under the auspices of the Masonic order, the sermon being delivered by Rev. W. W. Carmine, and the remains were laid to rest in the McCune cemetery. One of his Friends. * Should be 82 years old. He was 18 in the 1850 census but we think he changed his birth year as second wife was much younger. ** Should be nine children according to Drury's will. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
