Wadsworth: bobbyjay@flash.net Will of John LUCAS, 3 Aug 1872 Macon County Probate Records, No. 697, Box 37 Missouri State Archives, Microfilm No. 6995 The Last Will & Testament of John LUCAS in the County of Macon & State of Missouri deceast declared by him by word of mouth in the time of the last sickness of said deceast & in his usual dwelling. On the third day of August 1872 in the presence of us who at the time of pronouncing the same were requested by the testator to bear witness that such was his will & who have subscribed our names as witnesses there off. My will is: 1st - that I bequeath unto my wife Polly LUCAS one sorrell mare & sucking colt all so one brown cow 8 years old, all so the money that the wagon brings, all so a sufficient quantity of corn & hungarian for her & stock / the above named stock she is to hold during her life. 2nd - that I bequeath unto Armilda S. GEE my 3rd daughter one yearling heifer for ever. 3rd - that I bequeath unto George T. LUCAS my 5th son one black cow 5 years old all so the third of the corn & hungarian for ever. 4th - that I bequeath unto Arch T. LUCAS my sixth son one bay horse three years old all so one heifer calf for ever. Property & effects of all description be gathered together & sold to the hiest bider & my debts paid & the remainder if any be divided between of the heirs eaquel & the real estate (if not sold to satisfy debt) I want it rented until it can be sold & the rent or so much there off as will be sufficient to take care of my widow & when sold to be divided eaquel between the surviving heirs & that I do here by these presents appoint Green MOORE & Wm. M. LUCAS to administer on my estate & carry out this my last will according to the instructions there in given, in witness where of I have here unto assign my name & affix & seal. /s/ John (X) LUCAS Which said will was reduced to writing by Green MOORE in presence of the said Wm. LUCAS Transcriber's note: According to one researcher, John LUCAS was the son of John and Patsy LUCAS of Casey Co., KY. John's marker at Mt. Salem Cemetery, Macon Co., MO, indicates that he was 64 years and 10 days old at his death on 09 Aug 1872.
