He was born on November 1, 1926, in Higginsville, the son of Sidney and Bertha Roark Branson. He was married on October 5, 1957, in Westphalia to Florence Marie Schmitz, who survives of the home. A 1948 graduate of Linn High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired in 1989 as a corrections officer at Algoa Correctional Center where he had been employed for 20 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Cathilic Church; Holy Name Society; Knights of Columbus; and Argyle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8045. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Branson of Westphalia; three grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Charles and Marjorie Branson of Fair Grove; and Sidney and Beverly Branson of St. Charles; three sisters and husbands, Freda Bryan of Warrenton; Joann and Don Wolfe of St. Charles; and Retha and Duane Siegler of Belle. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clayton and Clifford Branson; and one sister, Veneda Kating.
