The jury rendered the verdict that "the deceased came to his death by drowning." A card was found on his person which purpoted to be a receipt for a deck passage, on the steamboat Highland Mary, No. 2. On the day subsequent to the day on which he was found, the Highland Mary landed at our wharf, and on enquiry of the Captain it was ascertained that his name was John Conway; that he was one of two men, deck passengers, that had been precipitated from the yawl of that boat some distance above this city; about ten days previous, by a deck hand of the boat. He was plainly clad, having on ca--ipet pants, muslin shirt, (pleated bosom) with red flannel undershirt, without coat or waistcoat, with fine sleeves on. He was decently interred in the Baptist Cemetary of this city. There was found upon his person nine gold sovereigns which is of yet in the hands of the City Recorder, subject to the demand of his legal heirs or representatives.
