The Hannibal Journal August 26, 1847
On last Friday evening several boys were bathing in the river at his place, 
and one of them, a promising son of Mr. F. Levering, venturing beyond his 
depth was drowned.  Every effort was made to save him by many of our citizens 
who displayed a most praiseworthy activity in endeavoring to save him.  
Unfortunately they did not succeed until he had been in the water several 
hours, too long for any hope of resuscitation.


Additional Comments:
In 1850 census, there is a Franklin Levering family living in Hannibal, Marion 
Co., MO.
