The Hannibal Journal June 10, 1847
SMALL POX. -- This terrible disease is now prevalent in St. Louis, and as the 
communication between Hannibal and that City, renders it possible that we may 
be subjected to the scourge, our citizens should take the proper steps to 
avoid the danger.  Those desiring it, can be vaccinated by applying to the 
members of the Board of Health.
