The deceased was a soldier of the Revolution, and served with fidelity and honor under Washington and Lafayette, throughout the eventful struggle for independence. He lived to witness the elevation of his country to the highest station among the nations of the earth, and the vindication of its glory by the descendants of his Revolutionary compatriots, ere he was gathered to the house of his fathers. He was buried with Masonic honors. "How sleep the brave who sink to rest, With all their country's wishes blest."
