The Hannibal Journal, Thursday, May 10, 1949
Mr. John Carson, an old citizen of this county, died at his residence a few 
miles west of this place, on Friday last, after a protracted illness. Mr. 
Carson was useful and highly respectable citizen -- a pious and consistent 
christian.  His loss will be severely felt by the community, and a large 
circle of relatives and friends. -- Palmyra Whig.
