The Hannibal Journal, Thursday, August 17, 1848
Died in this City on Tuesday morning last after an illness of about 18 hours; 
Stella Emma daughter of Anson W. and Catharine E. Church, aged 3 years and 6 
months.

In the death of this little girl the fond mother mourns one that lingered 
nearest her heart, a loved one that gave light and life to her soul.  The 
affliction comes with the greater poignancy, in the absence of the Father of 
her child.  Death abides not our time.  He snatched the idol away and bore her 
to the tomb.
