William M. Crawford, in the thirty- seventh year of his age. The deceased was a native of Georgetown, Kentucky, where he professed religion and connected himself with the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1845 he joined the Kentucky Conference, in which he labored with little interruption until a short period previous to his death. Last fall he located, and removed to this place, where as occasion offered, he preached as a local minister, not only in the city, but also in adjacent neighborhoods. He had just entered into business with encouraging prospects for success, when he was suddenly seized with a severe illness, which in a little more than nine days, terminated his earthly career. From the first of his affliction he anticipated the result but was unmoved. Disclaiming any trust in personal merit, he was assured of hos portion in the Redemption which is in Christ Jesus. Thus he laid him down, and sleeps in peace until the resurrection shall reanimate his ashes. His funeral was attended at the Methodist Church by a large number of persons, and his remains were followed to the place of interment by the Order of Odd Fellows by whose friendly hands he was deposited in his long home. During the short period of his stay in Hannibal, he seemed to have become identified with its interests, and to feel a lively solicitude for its welfare. But in the very midst of life God saw best to call him away. We will submit to His Providence and adore the hand that afflicted the blow.
