Departed this life on Sunday, the 10th inst., at his residence in this City, of Pulmonary disease, Mr. Jamison Samuel in the 49th years of his age. In the death of this truly estimable man, this community has sustained a loss that we can never hope to have replaced. This City probably owes more to his enterprise and ________, for its present prosperity, than to any other man that has ever resided among us. He has for many years been engaged in large business enterprises, with an energy and perseverance that never flagged, and with a far reaching sagacity, that always told of the wisdom of the mind that conceived them. Energy, perseverance, liberality, and a high sense of justice, were the _______ traits of his mind. As a friend, he was liberal to a fault; as a neighbor, kind and obliging, even at the sacrifice of self interest; as a man, one of nature's noblemen. Even when all saw and knew his end was approaching, and when debilitated by disease to infantile weakness, the same characterized his life, was signally manifested in death. This whole community mourns the loss of such a man, and deeply feels the void his death has created. Additional Comments: The page was difficult to read.
