Selmes, wife of Mr. T. R. Selmes of this city, was born in the city of New York, on the 3d January, 1813. Her parents were members of the M. E. Church, and gave her the benefit of a religious education. In Dec. 1842, she made profession of religion, and joined the M. E. Church. In the fall of 1843, her husband came to this place, where immediately united herself in church fellowship with the people of her choice... Additional Comments: The remainder of the obit mainly followed the traditional message that she was a good Christian lady. However, there was mention that she died of dropsey on the 3d inst. She leaves husband, daughter, son-in-law. Then the article was dated Hannibal, July 4th, 1849.
