P. Strong, of Ohio, in the 21st year of his age. The deceased has left a numberous connection in his native State, besides an affectionate brother in this city, to mourn his loss. How often are our brightest prospects blasted by the ruthless hand of death forever; yet there are circumstances when his iron grasp lays hold on one in our midst which appear to render his visit doubly distressing. It was so in the present intance. Oh, how little did the youth whose feelings were never contaminated by his intercourse with this unfriendly world, think when he bade an affectionate adieu to father, mother, brother, and sister, and left his paternal home to seek his fortune in the West, that he should so soon be called upon to try the realities of another world, and be compelled to take his final resting place among the forest trees of a distant land. A few short weeks have intervened, he resposes soundly beneath the clods of the valley, until he with the rest of frail humanity shall be delivered from the abodes of misery and corruption, no more to languish, but death itself will be "swallowed up in victory."
