George Hickman Will - MONITEAU COUNTY, MISSOURI I George Hickman of the County of Moniteau State of Missouri being of sound and disposing memory and understanding do make publish and declare this to be my will and testament hereby revoking and making null and void all former wills and testaments and writings in the nature of last wills and testaments by me as heretofore made. My will is first that my funeral charges and just debts be paid by my wife Matilda: The residence of my wife and property I give devise and dispose of as follows I give and devise to my son Anthony G. Hickman the sum of Fifty Dollars to be paid to him within ten days after my death by my wife Matilda. I likewise bequeath give and devise to my daughter Mary Ann Clark the sum of Fifty Dollars to be paid her within ten days after my death. The residence of my estate and property consisting of whatsoever it may, Negroes, Grounds, Stock, Moneys, Notes, Bonds or Bank Accounts I give to my beloved wife Matilda to be hers in fee simple and she hereby receives full power to dispose of the same as she may choose. I have a request with my wife Matilda that at death she give to my granddaughter Mary Matilda Hickman the negro girl "Mary Jane" also Five Hundred Dollars in money. And to Samatha A. Clark Five Hundred Dollars in money. And the remainder of the value of the property she may be possessed of at her death I will to be equally divided among these my grandchildren "Geo T. Hickman, Jno. M. Hickman, Joseph W. Hickman, Newton G. Hickman, Mary Matilda Hickman, Geo. T. Clark, Jno. W. Clark, Harriet G. Clark, Samatha Clark, and likewise request that should one or more of the above named grandchildren die before having children to inherit the property herein to them bequeathed, that it be equally divided among those who are still living. Boggs and Nelson Brown who being by me first duly sworn upon their oaths, depose and say that they were present and heard George Hickman declare that he had signed the foregoing instrument, purporting to be the last will and testament of the said George Hickman and heard him publish and declare the same to be his last will and testament on the lst day of March l86l and that the time of signing the same the said George Hickman was of sound and disposing mind, and more than twenty one years of age, and that they the deponents subscribe their names thereto as witnesses to the same in the issuance of the testator and the request of the said George Hickman R. Hickman minor & chooses Isaac Williams to be guardian of the person & property of said Hickman & the court being satisfied that said Williams is a suitable person to be guardian as aforesaid he is therefore appointed as such to and ordered to enter into bond in the sum of fifty dollars. Now at this day comes the said Williams into court & presents his bond as such guardian with Wm Cole as security in the sum of fifty dollars which is approved & filed. ----------- Last Will of A. G. Hickman In the name of God Amen. I A. G. Hickman of Moreau Township in the County of Moniteau, State of Missouri being of Sound mind and disposing memory do hereby make, publish and declare this my last will and testament, and hereby revoking any and all wills by me heretofore made in manner and form following to wit l. I direct that all my just debts, my funeral expenses and the expenses of my last illness be first paid and if feasible out of my personal estate. 2. I give and bequeath to my wife Harriet Hickman all of my household and kitchen furniture and all grains, meat, vegetables, groceries and supplies and provisions as lands are provided also one good horse or mare and one cow to be selected out of the stock left after my death which selection to be made by my executor and I also give and bequeath to my said wife Harriet one thousand dollars ($l000.00) one hun- dred dollars of which shall be paid hereat my death and the remainder shall be placed in interest for her benefit by my executors and in the event that the interest and other resources are not sufficient to maintain her I direct that my executors shall pay her from time to time out of the principal such amounts as she shall need for her support. I also give, devise and bequeath to my said wife Harriet Hickman the homeplace containing sixty seven and one half (67 l/2) acres except a strip Sixteen and one half (l6 l/2) feet side off of the north Side of said tract which I give devise and bequeath to my son John Hickman for a road. I also give devise and bequeath to my said wife twenty nine acres being the west part of the South West Quarter of the South East Quarter of Section thirty (30) Township Forty five (45) of Range Sixteen (l6) all of said lands to be held during her widowhood and upon her death to be divided equally among my own children or their heirs, and also all personal property left at her death shall be divided equally between my own children or their heirs. 3. I give and bequeath to the heirs of my dearest daughter Mary M. Steppens Five hundred dollars ($500.00) to be paid at my death. 4. I give, devise and bequeath to my son John M. Hickman the N l/2 of E l/2 of SW l/4 of NE l/4 of Section (3l) in Township (45) of Range (l6) containing Ten acres. 5. I give, devise and bequeath to my son Joseph W. Hickman the S l/2 of E l/2 of SW l/4 of NE l/4 of Section (3l) in township (45) of Range (l6) containing Ten acres. 6. I give, devise and bequeath to my Son George T. Hickman Ten acres off of the South Side of the East half of the North East Quarter of Section (5) Township (44) of Range l6. 7. I give, devise and bequeath to my son Newton G. Hickman Ten acres adjoining on the South of the Ten acres heretofore conveyed to him which Ten acres conveyed is off of the North side of the East half of the NorthEast Quarter of Section (5) Township (44) of Range (l6) Will of A. G. Hickman 8. I hereby direct that the forty acres remaining after the bequest to my sons Newt G Hickman of Ten acres and my son Geo. T. Hickman of Ten acres which Forty acres is a part of the East half of the NE l/4 Section (5) Township (44) of Range (l6) be sold at my death and the proceeds of the sale be divided equally among my heirs as follows: George T. Hickman, John M. Hickman, Joseph W. Hickman Newt G. Hickman and the children of my dearest daughter who shall be entitled to one fifth part. All lands devised by this will lying hereof and situate in Moniteau County, Missouri. 9. I hereby direct that all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate whatsover real personal and mixed and wherever situate be sold at my death and the proceeds be divided equally among my children and their heirs. l0. I hereby nominate and appoint my sons John M. Hickman, and Joseph W. Hickman Executors of this my last will and testament and direct that they be authorized to act as such executors without being required to give bond and I further do charge said executors to ??? and settle my accounts and claims against or due my estate. B. Alexander who are the subscribing witnesses to the will of A. G. Hickman deceased and being by me first duly sworn, depose and say that the said A. G. Hickman the testator subscribed the same in their presence and published and declared said will or instrument of writing to be his last will and testament and that at the time of signing the same he the said testator was of sound and deposing mind and more than twenty-one years of age and the said deponents attested said will as witnesses thereto by subscribing their names to the same in the presence of the testator and of each other and at the request of the said testator sworn to and subscribed before me this 23rd day of February A. First, I direct that my body be buried with proper regard to station and condition in life and the circumstances of my estate. Secondly, I direct that my Executors hereinafter named as soon as they have sufficient funds in their hands pay my funeral expenses and the expenses of my last sickness and the allowance made to my family. Thirdly, I direct and bequeath to my Sister Elizabeth J. Collet the sum of one hudnred and fifty dollars, to my sister Nancy Tadlock the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to my sister Sarah F. Boggs the sum of one hundred dollars, to my sister Mary E. Dinmity the sum of one hundred dollars, and to Brother in Law John C.Tadlock the sum of ??? hundred dollars for his care and attention in my last sickness which said general legacies or sums of money I direct and order to be paid to the said restrictive legatees but out of the proceeds of the sale of the real and personal property owned by me at the time of my death after first paying and fully satisfying out of said proceeds all my just debts and the expenses of administration. Fourthly I give and devise all the rest, residue and remainder of any real and personal property of every name and nature whatsoever owned by me at the time of my death to my Son Robert Elmer Hickman. Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint R.C. Boggs of Latham Moniteau County Missouri as the Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I hereby authorize and empower herein the said R. C. Boggs my executor as aforesaid to administer upon all my property both personal and real of every name and nature whatsoever with the like power to sell and dispose of the same without recourse to the Courts (upon giving proper bonds) and apply the proceeds thereof in accordance with the terms of this my last Will and Testament and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.
