Brown & Mary Jane Brown of the County of Lewis and State of Missouri of the first part and James D. Snodgrass of the County of Monroe and State aforesaid of the Second part Witnesseth that the said partys of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred & fifty Dollars to us in hand paid by the party of the Second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged we hereby give grant bargain Sell Convey and transfer & make over unto the said James D. Snodgrass his heirs and assigns forever the following described lot tract or parcel of land to wit, the SE1/4 of the SE qr. Town 55 Range 12 & the W1/2 of the SW qr. of Sec 22 Township 55 Range 12 Containing one hundred & twenty acres more or less Situate & being in Monroe County To have and to hold the afore granted premises unto the said James D. Snodgrass his heirs and assigns forever and the Said Willis G. Brown & Mary Jane do for themselves their heirs and executors & administrators Covenant to Warrant and defend the aforegranted premises unto the said James D. Snodgrass his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful Claim or Claims of every person or persons whatsoever. In Testimony whereof we hereunto set our hand and affix our Seals on the day & year first above written. Willis G. Brown (Seal) Mary J. Brown (Seal) In presence of J. Sanner State of Missouri) Sct. County of Monroe) Be it remembered that Willis G. Brown and Mary Jane Brown his wife of Said Willis G. Brown both of whom are personally Known to the undersigned Justice of the peace to be the same persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing deed as a party thereto this day appeared before me in Monroe County and the said Willis G. Brown then & there acknowledged that he executed Said deed for the uses & purposes therein express and the Said Mary Jane having been by me made acquainted with the Contents of sd. deed & on examination apart from her Sd. husband acknowledged that she executed Said deed and relinquished her dower in the real estate therein mentioned freely and without compulsion or under influence from her said husband. In Testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this 28th day of December A.D. 1852.
